Twitter is definitely more work. Even with 3rd party apps, it takes a long time to make sense of the posts. With Jaiku, I can quickly scan my feed to see what's going on.
Twitter is just noise, even with a filter of sorts, it's not easy trying to have a convo there. Even in it's current state Jaiku is still more of a social community than anything else out there.
For me, twitter is just news. I don't pay attention to real people posting stuff. Just news like where the kogi bbq truck is tonight or what fire the LAFD is putting out.
I just don't try to have a convo over twitter... it doesn't make sense to me and I hate it when people start using it as a chatroom. Gaw!

Friendfeed's design is just crap. I have nothing against minimalist UI and design but this one is just unusable. I can't distinguish things there. Socialthing is better on this point but damn too slow and doesn't support enough services.
@markguim - i can see that aspect, but it's alot of work to follow - whereas Jaiku is much more person-friendly, and enables me to create meaningful connections with people. Twitter's just that - very minimal one-liners, maybe a response from someone.

@meonjaiku: Was referring to Facebook. No point stumbling into a conversation on Twitter, if the other person has their settings on not to see replies from people they aren't following it's pointless.
I'm following 198 people on Twitter and thinking of killing a few as there are too may tweets of total nonsense. At least the nonsense on Jaiku is funny, there are loads of Twitter's that seem to just love their own voice so to speak. I've started by killing anyone who mentions how to increase ur twitter following.
I've tried to spend more time on Twitter over the last couple of weeks but I just feel alone and lost in there, so I just use it mainly to follow some news now...I prefer Jaiku for it's community and conversations, you just can't have it on Twitter as people don't see you reply if you're not their contact so what's the point. If I feel like just posting my own thoughts and don't mind if anyone responses, then I'll be tweeting it rather than posting it on Jaiku.
@hannamanna just post everything here, as you never know when/if something will start an interesting conversation (lets see if this now changes to a discussion of "Thigh high boots"!)
@ymb I use ping.fm quite a lot so if you like, you can see my comments on both...as well as on Brightkite and Rejaw :-) but yup, interesting conversations are always guarenteed here and that is why I keep coming back!

I can't use Jaiku, even if it is better at conversations. No S60 client that works on the E71 NAM since the firmware update.

I like the S60 client, but the fact it can only use phone data connection is a limiting factor for me. Also channels don't show up in the S60 client.
@atmosphere i think you may have nailed it - twitter is real-time. If you are busy or asleep you will miss the oppertunity to join the "conversation"
