Currently thinking I'm going to replace my truck with a 4-door Jeep Wrangler when the time comes. Discuss.

I like that 4 door wrangler too ... not sure you'll be upping your mpg though

You've got a Ram now right? I know its some pickup that you have. Either way, its a great trade off, the Wrangler is nice. This new 4-door one is like rugged with a hint of luxury, kinda like Land Rover used to feel.

I've got a 4-door GMC Sierra right now, and I think I would actually be upping my MPG, honestly. To be honest, though, MPG isn't a real factor at this time. I don't drive much, so an extra 10 mpg even isn't going to have as big an impact as it would if I was commuting or something. Anything better than 18-20 mpg is good enough.

I have a chocolate lab, so I need something I can haul her around in, and we go camping the like alot, too (hence the truck). I've not sat in one of these yet, or priced them, but there's a few of them in our apartment complex and I REALLY like them alot.

You will get about 20mpg best; but you will have that utility that you are looking for. And the removable hard-plastic top is always a benefit too.

That's another debate - I LOVE the ragtops, but would want to have the hardtop, too, for various situations. Also, I'm likely to have this on into having kiddos, which is another factor to think about.

Personally, I'd keep the Ram unless you have multiple riders all the time. Dodge trucks hold up really well.

@krisguy - it's not a Ram, it's a GMC Sierra. The thing is, while I rather like the new Silverados on the outside, the backseat is all jacked up, and I've confirmed that it's the same for Ford, Dodge, even Toyota/Nissan.

On mine, the 'seat' part lifts up against the back of the front seats and the 'back' folds down, creating somewhat of a flat platform that's really nice to have. With the new ones, you just lift up on the 'seat' part and it folds up against the back of the cab, so you don't get the platform, AND it takes up 2x as much room, so space is reduced.

The 4-door Wrangler has a folding hard(-plastic) top which is great because it can open the roof in pieces and isn't too heavy to remove in a pinch. And according to one of the folks at my church who has two teens, it works great with kids.

Husband has ragtop traditional Wrangler with optional hardtop and the top is too heavy for he and I to put it on. He's going to use it till it dies, but now that 4 door is available I think that will be his next vehicle.

My brother has one. Its a sweet ride kinda Hummer lite. Pricey for a wrangler though.
