You think that is bad -- try ordering MPLS circuits from AT&T or Verizon. Average delivery time on the stuff we order for work is 4-6 months and some of the outliers have taken as long as 9 months.
@munkimatt - I've had new internet service activated at 4 different addresses over the past few years, call-to-activation time is anywhere from 1-3 freakin weeks. Last time I called them 2 weeks ahead of the move and it still took them an extra week.
when I first had broadband years and years ago it was 14 days if I remember correctly. I've just placed an order today and been told it'll activate on the 15th. Judging by past experience with this company it'll probably work from the 13th or 14th. I'm still at a loss though as to why it takes any time at all, anyone wish to enlighten me?
Great. Sooo....AT&T is pointing the finger at UPS, UPS is pointing the finger at AT&T, and the front office has their thumbs up their butts. Fantastic.
I hate at&t! I switched from regular DSL to Naked DSL without a phone line. They said I'd be down 36 hours. 22 days and LITERALLY 20 HOURS on the phone with them before it worked!
Then, they'd set up two naked DSL accounts for me, and I was paying the wrong one, so they disconnected me AGAIN. Another 7 days and 8 hours of phone calls to get set up again. Gracious, I hate at&t. Gimme FIOS in SF!
OMFG, how difficult is this. You sent me a modem, didn't require a signature, so UPS left it at the front door (of an apartment that I wasn't moving into for another 4 days).
I called you a week ago to ensure I would have internet access because it's important to me. I don't have a modem. I don't care if you have to fly over from India (not an assumption, I asked and confirmed) and hand-deliver the damn thing, I need a modem tomorrow. Make that happen.
Sounds like our Telkom...All the wireless carriers are usually fast. You just go in the shop, sign the contract, and activate it. I think in the olden days it took about few hours to activate on their systems. Now it's much quicker, and if you're on prepaid, it's few seconds only.
The router doesn't need a pc card slot. Connect the pc card slot and a router to the computer, that's how I do, but instead, I use a Wireless Access Point
@merajchhaya, Yup, I've done that too. I had a wireless card connected to the Cafe on the corner via Cantenna, and a Sprint A620 USB'd as a failover. Worked pretty well!
Or there's always Joikuspot.... Then share out the wired connection on one computer to the hub.
